@ Bob’s Ranch House, 7 p.m.

Helen Evans, Chairman

1. Helen read a correspondence from Mrs. Miller (EHS Principal).

 b) Scott River High Student Participation in Grad Night Activities
Mrs. Miller also indicated that she was interested in approaching the school board to propose that the sober grad night be a school district sober grad night from now on. She wrote that if the Scott River High Students were invited to the 2010 Sober Grad Nite she would provide a firm committment as to the number of students who will attend by April 1st at the latest. There was a vote by attending parents who voted in favor of inviting the two current Scott River High Graduates to this year’s activities.

Minutes of January 25, Sober Grad Nite Parent Meeting

25 January  2010  Sober Grad Night Parent Meeting

Etna High School

7 p.m.

Helen Evans, Chairman conducting

Next Meeting 7 pm  (Thursday)  February 11, EHS.

1.  Discussion:  Should Scott River High School Graduating Seniors be invited to EHS   Sober Grad Night Party.

EHS Principal wants to make a policy that Scott River High graduating seniors would be allowed to attend EHS Sober Grad Night party if the Scott River High faculty approves.

Scott River High School is a separate school and hosts its own graduation party at Kidder Creek.

It was suggested that Helen invite Mrs. Miller (EHS Principal) to the next meeting.

The question was raised, “Do Scott River students want to come to the EHS party?”

Would Scott River Parents be willing to help on the various EHS committees?

Many felt that there should be no new policy and that Scott River High School should be responsible for what ever celebration they decide on for their graduates.

2.  The Truck trailer is on the EHS campus.

The administration is not happy with how ugly it is and there is some concern about where it is placed and who actually owns it.

            The truck can be painted.

The wheels will come off and it will be set on RR ties or another type of foundation.

The truck can be moved to a less conspicuous spot but the group recommended that it not be moved up to the bus barn area.

3.  The topic of a more clearly defined theme was brought up.  Many feel that the current theme Senior Fun Night 2010 doesn’t give enough direction  for decorating and a unified idea for T-shirts and invitations.   No decision was made.

4.  Several want copies of the complete list of Seniors and their parents/guardians with phone numbers.  Geri will make copies and bring them to the next meeting.

5.  Martha Hicks reported that the food will be taken care of.  It will be finger food and bottled water.   No breakfast.

6.  Geri reported that the Wreath sales profited $610.00.  10 donation canisters have been placed at businesses in Scott Valley and one at Sears.  We need to sell raffle tickets at the Rays stores in the valley every Saturday from 12-4.  Two adults need to be at each site.  Geri has the sign up sheet.  The committee wanted parents who are not currently helping to be called first.  Geri and her husband will take the Saturday before Easter at the Ray’s in Etna.

7.  Mary Hiett suggested having back sales on the Saturday before Easter at both Rays.  She will organize a bake sale for Etna and Mari Kraus will organize the bake sale at the Fort Jones Ray’s.

8.  Manu reported that Community contributions have come in to the amount of $2005.00.  Only 8 parents have sent in the $30.00 required amount for each senior.

9.  Manu also asks that no one solicit gifts or prizes from the community as that is part of her responsibility.

10.  Deborah Kast reported that so far $990 has been collected from Raffle tickets.

11.  Debbie Menne reported that she has created a tentative design for the back and front of the shirts and has found a supplier for shirts at $5.00 each.  The group approved her suggestions.

12.  Deborah Kohlman has produced a very nice poster and will create another with the actual photos.  Geri will get them enlarged and place several.

13.  Geri will ask Shelley to put the meeting announcement in the Bulletin.

14.  18 people were in attendance.

15.  Next meeting will be on Feb 11 – Thursday at 7 pm EHS.
